CHIP MACS - The Virtual Chip DoctorTM - Process Control

The Virtual Chip Doctor (TVCD) is a web-enabled information management and reporting application, which utilizes, CHIP MACS to increases the productivity and economic growth of the pulp and paper industry. Using a simple four step method:

Step 1 - Measuring your facility,
Step 2 - Analyzing your operation, providing
Step 3 - Corrective Action where needed,
Step 4 - Sustaining optimal efficiency.

The key to this system is accurately analyzing sample chip data and then providing trend analysis supported by the expertise of Biomass Resources, Inc. This process is the joint venture of Biomass Resources Inc. (BRI) "Home Of The Chip Doctors" and Fiber M Technologies.

*BRI has extensive experience in the control and technological advancement of chip quality for pulp mills throughout the U.S. and Canada. Fiber M Technologies is an experienced software firm, which developed and currently hosts the TVCD program.

Additional Features

The TVCDTM software is a web based, process control system for improving and then stabilizing wood chip quality. You send us your chip quality data. We present you with a complete system for data entry, monitoring, analysis, and continuous improvement.

Using our copyrighted software, you can view your data from anywhere* and, make corrective actions at the supplier level without the need for time consuming charting, calculations and lengthy supplier negotiations... we do it all for you in one easy to use interface for your Windows 95, 98, 2000 or Windows XP PC.

Best of all, our supplier reports are generated on a weekly schedule and are emailed or faxed directly to you and to your suppliers so that chip quality is actively monitored and accurately reported.

The primary objectives for advanced controls in Pulp & Paper mills are to maximize production, minimize costs and produce a uniform-quality product.

The Virtual Chip DoctorTM does this by gaining control over the chip pile. For many years, we all have tested our chips and have a good idea what our chip quality is. The trick is to improve it and maintain those improvements over time.

Using years of experience and our proprietary algorithms we can bring process control to your chip pile. In so doing, we can maximize fiber yield, minimize cost and produce a uniform chip distribution across fractions.

Maximize production, minimize costs and produce a uniform quality product;
all part of the TVCDTM program.

A high volume of pins and fines from the chipping operation whether residual from sawmills or direct from the chipping operations is to be avoided. The Virtual Chip DoctorTM puts you in control of your fractions and reduces waste.

We know from experience that adjustments can be made to residual and chipping equipment to produce higher accepts and fewer pins and fines. Knowing when and how to make these adjustments are key components of our program. We call upon the Chip Doctor's years of experience and our proprietary algorithms to tell you and your suppliers WHEN & HOW to reduce the pins and fines fractions and how to increase the % of accepts!

It's Simple -

Once a facility has been diagnosed by one of BRI's certified "Chip Doctors" using the CHIP MACS process, Chip lab facilities gather Raw materials which are analyzed within our TVCD software by performing a series of algorithm calculations and manipulating data to produce robust trend reports.

The pulp mills and suppliers are then provided with up to date and accurate information regarding the quality of their materials as well as a check list provided by BRI of corrective actions in order to increase their production and quality.

The user simply inputs their data and our system provides all of the necessary functionality. CHIP MACS/TVCD is accessible via the web, meaning it is capable of reaching any mill or supplier with internet connectivity, 24 hours a day. Thus, giving the user total access to their data and recommendations so they can make adjustments when it is timely for them.
